The OCA Experience

Hunting: We offer a real bird hunting experience. Our pheasants and quail are wild, and every hunting day is different. This adds to the excitement, as the birds are in their natural environment. Our area has always been know for some of the best pheasant hunting in the world. The plus is, we are only a 3 hour drive east of Denver.

Lodging: Open Country is proud to offer the Balcony Bed & Breakfast for your stay during your hunt. It is truly what a bed and breakfast is supposed to be...quiet, relaxing, charming, and elegant. Guests are allowed to come and go as they please, help themselves to the snacks(delicious homemade cookies), drinks, relax in your room, chat with friends in the sitting room, watch TV, or take a nice stroll downtown.

These rooms book up fast, so be sure to allow plenty of time to book your stay. Click here for more information and history about this beautiful establishment. Also, visit our Photo Gallery page for pictures.

Transportation: One of the things we are excited about is our hunt transportation. With our hunting areas spread over a wide and diverse area, a rugged but comfortable means of transporting our hunters is important. After a considerable search we found what we were looking for, our four-wheel drive "Hunt Limo".

Dining: During your visit with Open Country Adventures, you'll be dining with the Balcony House, at our ranch, and in the best of the local restaurants. You'll enjoy home-style food, friendly service, and a casual atmosphere.

Tours: Open Country is pleased to offer, as an option of one of our hunting packages, a special tour of Rod Fuller Collectible Firearms. Rod has amassed over 30 years of collecting and marketing out-of-production firearms, and specializes in Browning Belgium manufactured items, mostly-over under Browning shotguns. Over 250 firearms are located in this one showroom. If you are a shooting enthusiast, you're sure to love this stop. Check out this website for a look at his guns for sale. www.gunsamerica.com and search "rod fuller".

We also offer tours of our modern working ranch. See cows and calves in their natural habitat, how we manage our grazing land to simulate conditions when the buffalo were still roaming, hear the history about how this land was settled in the late 1800's, see where the Texas trail led through our ranch and continued on to the Cowboy Capital of Nebraska, Ogallala. Also see miles and miles of unspoiled natural grasslands with ample clean, clear drinking water below. See how we raise many types of bird seed. Taste some of worlds best tasting beef that is raised, grown, and fed locally. Fresh air, plenty of sunshine, wide open spaces, no people. It doesn't get any better than this.
